Fire and Rain

cold, dark, rushing, tumbling, gasping,
gasping for breath, drowning, cold..
gasping, air!, a strong hand, a warm blanket,
a friend. Calm, silence, sun. ..

Gone! lost, confused, spinning.
Heat, burning, flames. Running,
running from the flames. Pain, shock.
Help me! smoke, heat, flames, darkness..

Rain. cool, crisp. Light, beautiful light.
The flames, dim, the fire subsides.
Peace, precious peace. A face,
a smile. My friend.
I waited for you. I was wondering
